Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

A truly unforgettable evening. This review is for the upstairs fine dining option. It is highly recommened that you make reservations. We started off the evening with some house made Sangria, which was suggested to us. I've traveled Italy and all over the world and this was by far the best Sangria to ever grace my mouth. I was given the option to try the "tasting menu" that wasn't even an option on the menu. The first course that graced my presence was the Endive Salad; Gala apple, candied walnuts, maytag blue cheese, and sherry vinaigrette. What a wonderful surprise this salad was. The crispness of the greens combined with expertly picked toppings made quite the first impression of what was about the come. Second dish: Seared Spiced Yellowfin Tuna; Citrus, frisée salad, carrot & pumpkin purée, tempura cardoons, sobret, with ponzu sauce. This ended up being my favorite course of the evening. Who would have thought to put a dallop of sorbet with some raw fish? The combination was mind blowing! The third course was the Lobster Raviolo; Butter poached lobster, ricotta, tarragon, lobster emulsion, zucchini squash, and artichokes. Once again the combination of flavors held my taste buds hostage and seized them with a quickness like never before. The fourth dish was the Alaskan Halibut; Snap pea purée, braised articokes, onions, baby heirloom tomatoes, ginger snap peas, salsa mulata. This dish had me feeling like I was back in Hawaii where you won't find a fresher, tastier fish. My fifth course was the Prime New York Strip; Parsley root purée, charred asparagus, roasted cipollini onions, wild mushrooms, bordelaise sauce. This was the second time I have tried the steak here. I have to be honest and say the steak was average both times. The presentation and the sides were outstanding but the cut of meat itself was just ok. My final plate to end the evening was the Avocado Cheesecake; Yuzu curd, brown sugar shortbread, ginger ice cream. By this time I was completely satisfied, overly stuffed, and ready to be wheeled out to my car or an ambulance. I was in a food coma. This was by far the best "food experience" I have had in El Paso. Prior to this meal that title belonged to another restaurant down the road, Tabla. This memorable evening was made possible by the GM, Oscar, and the wonderful staff that he has assembled. The service was top notch. Thank you Anson 11 for making me feel like a King for one night, and for making my date feel like the Queen that she is.

I enjoyed this SO much!! I'm a total foodie and really look for great food wherever I go. Well, I found it!!! Anston 11 was close to my hotel and I ate there the 2 nights I was there. Both nights were outstanding. Their jalepeno and cilantro margaritas were incredible. The lettuce wraps were amazing, and I had them both nights. For entrees, I had the braised short ribs and the gnocchi with shrimp. Both amazing!!! The red wine sorbet was incredible and the perfect ending for dinner. I will definitely have to stop by the next time I'm in El Paso!!

I'm from LA. This is 5 stars by El Paso standards. The decor is elegant and the service is excellent. Steak is really good. Dane is a great server.
(5)Jared C.
El Paso is really making an effort in downtown and it starts here. I thought the atmosphere was great, the wait staff was courteous, and food was delicious. Pricing was a little on the higher end, but not bad.
(4)Liz D.
I just hosted a bridal shower here, and the service was superb! Super easy to organize, the staff knew exactly what I wanted, we got there an hour late and they accomodated that, and splitting the bill was a sinch. The food was incredible, drinks were perfect, and the live music upstairs made me feel like a rich girl in New York, lol!!
(5)David G.
Outstanding! Went for happy hour and had a few cocktails and dinner. The 1911 and San Jacinto cocktails were well made, delicious, and refreshing. The lamb meatball pita was one of the best gyro type of sandwiches I've ever had. The fries that comes with the sandwiches were outstanding as well. The decor is pretty classic and well kept, which makes it a great upscale atmosphere of you're looking for something a little classier. The service was outstanding as well. The hostesses, bartenders, and waiters were very professional, knowledgable, and attentive. I intend to go back soon!
(5)Trevor B.
Tried the Gorgonzola Mac and Cheese first. Hot, crumbly top cheese, very good. Next was the main dish, Lamb Meatball Pita sandwich, which was loaded with greens. Taking a few bites to reach the meatball was not a minus. The greens and the meat were very good. The sauce was refreshing. Nice chunks of feta.

I have eaten here now three times and though I absolutely love the location especially once all the construction is done, the decor and just general atmosphere it is fantastic, exactly what a downtown needs butttt....the food at times can be lacking. It is simply not consistent. Today's lunch was good since I had the pork belly tacos but my co-worker had the "Drunken" something sandwich and when it arrived the juices from the meat had soaked through the bread and uneatable with hands since the bread was falling apart, the meat was just warm as were the fries. There was something in my appetizer and I sent it back with barely an apology. I expected at least for my appetizer to be comped, but it wasn't and there was no manager available. If I was rating on food it would be a 3.5 Attention of the wait staff as far as checking up on us 5 General Atmosphere 5 Drinks 5 (They have the best MOJITOS!) They validate parking for the parking garage right behind the restaurant.
(4)Deb T.
So so disappointed. My husband had the lentil soup and it was the worst. My prawns would have been good but they were cold. Got the triple lamb...only one piece was good. The other was hidden and the third piece was dry and burnt. My husband had the salmon and it was old and fishy. The only thing memorable was the wine and bread. $178.00 later including tip was the worst. Not ever returning. I love great food and never mind paying....but this was horrible.

Not sure how I managed to miss Anson 11. They've been open for over a year. But luckily I was looking for a new place to take my mother for a special occasion and stumbled across the reviews here on Yelp. Now before I continue, let me make clear that this review is for the restaurant not the bistro. If you're interested in the bistro, check out some of the other reviews. And with that in mind...let me begin with the bar. If you're looking for a spot in El Paso where you can enjoy a quiet cocktail, Anson 11's upstairs lounge is for you. The bartender knows his way around the classic cocktails but also has a menu of inventive (and, in my case, deliciously spicy) specialty drinks. It was a great way to start our meal. No less impressive is the food. Both my salad and my lamb trio were delicious and perfectly prepared. I like my lamb rare, and that's exactly what I got. I'd have also ordered the tartare if the pairing with lamb wouldn't have led to a meat coma. So I'll just have to save that for another visit. I didn't have dessert, but my mother and wife split the Chocolate Cremeux and raved about it. Next time I'm in El Paso, I'll definitely be back.
(5)Terese C.
The food & service were outstanding! Our table of 3 eats lo carb & we were successful with a couple changes that the chef was happy to do. We had the meatloaf, which our friend said was a tad dry. I had the salmon with a Pinot noir glaze on the side which was great. My husband ate the shank which also was great. For appetizers we had lettuce wraps. We've always had iceberg lettuce, this was a delicate Bibb lettuce! I'd go back!
(4)Jessica B.
We really enjoyed ourselves. Our waiter took really good care of us. I recommend the linguine and cams. The pull short rib sandwich was good too. I definitely recommend the chocolate cake. Order it ahead of time, it takes about 15 minutes.
(5)Justin A.
Perfect place to eat at before a show at The Plaza or Abraham Chavez. Love the feel of this place, definitely needed in downtown. Not as good or as fancy as Cafe Central a block over, but worth checking out. I'm now a regular.

A change to El Paso scenery. This restaurant is a breath of fresh air, and although a lot of new restaurants are popping up with different vibes, Anson 11 sets the bar high. Located in the heart of downtown inside the Mills Building, Anson 11 gives you a sense of an old yet contemporary Chicago or New York restaurant. The bar, the tables, the decor, the lighting all come together to make you feel like your in a cosmopolitan city and can fetch a cab on your way to broadway or an opera. Honestly, without sounding ridiculous this restaurant gives off this vibe. It is simply wonderful. The food is good, nothing to fall head over heels for. It's a simple menu, with some dishes that are creative, and others that are lacking. My point taken off is for lack of choices. Some might think this is ridiculous, because there are a variety of dishes, salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, meat, pasta, seafood. BUT...there's just something lacking, maybe one plate or two that completely blows your mind...and I don't think they have that. The food is good, don't get me wrong, it's just a bit "underdressed" which may be the type of food they were going for. Some of my favorite dishes: the kale salad, shishito peppers, french dip, margharita flatbread, and steak frites. Overall, an amazing place to have lunch or dinner and feel like another person and another city, which is what El Paso is becoming - a growing city stocking up on good restaurants.

What a great find. We were in El Paso for the day and when the Cafe Central wasn't open we looked this restaurant up. The Queso Fundido was awesome. The pork belly tacos were really good, but would have been even better if the pork belly was more crisp. Last but not least the desserts were AWESOME!!! Apple cobbler, peanut butter ice cream, and the banana bread pudding are worth the trip.

This review is for the Anson 11 Bistro: Even The House Salad Is Delicious!!! Usually, the "house salad" is just iceberg lettuce with a tomato and maybe a radish slice. Not here! I've ordered the house salad twice because it is so delicious. Everything is FRESH! Varied greens, walnuts, dried cranberries, avocado, apples, goat cheese and lemon vinaigrette dressing. Last time, I forgot to order the dressing on the side. I expected my salad to be swimming in dressing, but it was added lightly. The bread is crusty and I won't spoil anything by describing the dipping oil. It's a little ritual. The wines have been quite good so far. I had a cranberry gimlet this time that was so good I ordered another. Try the Shishito Peppers as an appetizer. I plan to try something different the next time I'm here, as I've tended to order the same items each time because they are so tasty!!!

I love Anson 11! Been there several times with friends and family! I love their California chicken sandwhich and their desserts. The reason I gave A11 3 stars is because they handle a drunk old folk in a weird way... I believe in taking care of the image of your business and they didnt :/ ... But I LOVE. A11

Its average. . I ordered chicken sandwich. It was good. But Avacado didnt look fresh.
(4)Polly B.
Very good. Dishes are standard American and French -- no fusion cuisine, thank goodness-- but excellently prepared. Extensive wine list. Best fried oysters I've ever had, in the middle of the desert, no less. Ask about the history of the beautiful building.
(5)Isaac P.
The location is very nice, atmosphere is very good and the food selection is very diverse.

We were driving through El Paso on our way to California and decided to stop here for a post-New Years/birthday dinner. We read in the reviews that it could be hit-or-miss, but we saw the menu for the fine dining experience and had to try it. For those of you choosing between the bistro and fine dining, note that whereas the bistro is $$ as noted on Yelp, the fine dining is definitely $$$$. That said, the prices were totally reasonable for the level of cuisine and service. So, food. We started with the brussels sprout salad and seared yellowfin tuna. WOW. The sprouts were done in a sesame oil and Asian vinaigrette which was fantastic, especially complemented by the peanuts. The pomegranate made this dish fantastic with the right hint of sweetness. The tuna was tender and juicy, and came with a frisée and the freshest jalapeños I've ever had. Speaking of jalapeños, the cocktail selection was top notch (including our cilantro jalapeño margarita) made with the freshest ingredients. So kudos on the bar. For our mains, we ordered the lobster raviolo (an appetizer) and the muscovy duck breast. Unfortunately these dishes didn't seem to follow the high expectations set by the appetizers. The lobster was ok, but it was clearly overdone (lobster aficionado here). They were very understanding when we told them. The rest of the lobster dish tasted great, but didn't seem very cohesive. I had a similar experience with the duck--the breast itself was fantastic (acorn squash purée was a great choice) but the bed of vegetables was too rustic for me and the choice to include the leaner, dryer duck leg confit with the breast was unusual and didn't work. It ended up being too much of a mixture of tastes. I would recommend less is more with the meat dish--just the medallions with the purée and a sprig of cilantro or some other accent vegetable would work better. Finally, we had the avocado cheesecake which was recommended to us by Oscar, our helpful and ever gracious server. It was an excellent dish: we loved the avocado filling and would have wanted more of it (relative to the crust) but that's a personal choice. The ice cream complement was phenomenal. So despite the wrinkles, we had a great time out, my ultimate measure of a good dining experience. Based on our research, we weren't expecting haute cuisine in El Paso, so we were really excited to see Anson11 giving it a shot. Our understanding is it's a new place, and it seems that it was pretty empty--hopefully this was due to the holiday--but either way, I hope they keep up the good work and succeed. The ambiance and tenor of the experience is perfect, and the food is almost there. It would be a shame for El Paso to miss out on more fine dining in the future. For our greatly enjoyable evening, as a vote of confidence, and with my sincerest wish that they meet their potential, I happily give Anson11 four stars.

It's gotten a lot better than when the service was slow. Food is good and sometimes great. Really high end for El Paso upstairs. Nice change of pace.
(4)Chris J.
I was quite pleased with my dining experience upstairs on April 26. Ambiance was quiet and tasteful. Scallop appetizer with caviar and Hollandaise was incredible. Black cod with clams was delicious, however the portion was too small, and I often find restaurant portions too large. I was able to fill up on my companion's lovely swordfish, although she did mention that the strongly-flavored brussel sprouts were not a good match for delicate swordfish. Desert was a passion fruit panna cotta, which was outstanding. Service was very good, extremely friendly. Wine list needs a quality German riesling, but Coppola Sofia riesling was adequate. This restaurant making steady improvements and is extremely well located, especially for concerts at the Plaza Theater. At $6 public parking nearby is cheap.

Great addition to the El Paso dining scene. Great food and excellent wine selection. Service is great. If you're looking for dining options you can't go wrong here. Anson 11 now gives you an excuse to go downtown.
(5)E R.
Food and environment is great. The service was really good but a bit slow. Be patient and enjoy some appetizers. The Queso Fundido is SPECTACULAR!
(4)Candida H.
The ambiance is definitely something that El Paso needs. It is unique, reminding me of a mix of Gatsby elegance and 20th century modernity. I don't really know how I feel about the cloud looking light fixture. Anyways, their beverages are very good, and they are quick to accommodate you. I had a mojito, which was perfectly balanced (unlike some which have the tendency to be overly sweet.) However, their wine list was basic and lacking. I agree with former reviews about the chicken fried oysters. They are really delicious, and they are, again, unique to El Paso. Thank you (Daniel J & Tanya) for the heads up about this app! Now, the disappointing part of the meal appeared at the core. We ordered both the shrimp & grits and the lamb ratatouille. Both were over salted, which says a lot coming from me. I am definitely one to prefer generous seasoning. The breading on the shrimp was soft and overly abundant. The grits were so-so. The ratatouille was salty, but not unbearable. The lamb was the most disappointing, though. The slices were so thin that they reminded me of deli meat from Subway. For dessert, we split the peach cobbler, which our very kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating server did advise us against. The cobblers at Cracker Barrel are more well balanced and tasty. They still have to work out the kinks, but I'm hopeful for the more formal second level to open.

Wonderful Restaurant. Long overdue in El Paso. Decor, music and food are oustanding. Waitstaff is great and best location Dowtown El Paso. Cant wait to go back. Try Croque Madame. Just like in France

(3 stars and NOT 2 for decent service, a rarity in El Paso, and beautiful decor). Was brought for a birthday lunch a couple of weeks ago, and highly disappointed. The ambiance and decor itself was GORGEOUS, but unfortunately that can only go so far. Ordered the frito pie app, which was delicious (cant really go wrong with fritos, chile, and cheese). Entree was a braised short rib sandwich... Chewy, rubbery, and lack of depth in flavor. Whole point of slow cooking and braising is melt in your mouth, meaty tenderness. NOT the case, had to PULL in every bite. Offputting. My date odered the prime rib au jus, also lacking in taste. Not a wide array of side choices, the usual "fancied up" fries that every new el paso restaurant seems to offer, along with other POTATO options. Wheres the creativity? Veggies anyone? Hopefully they step it up in the kitchen. Hats off to the folks trying to broaden our city's palette, but put more focus on the product itself rather than the glitz and glitter.

Loved this place night #1 sooo much that I came back again a second night while traveling on business. I had the smoked salmon flatbread. It was delightful. Unfortunately, night #2 they burned the living hell out of the bottom... so much that I had to bite the top off without getting any of the bottom. When the server realized what was going on, she was gracious and offered to replace it, but I declined. I had hoped for consistency... perhaps a bit too much. Still loved it though.
(4)Chris R.
Food was ok and service was just ok. Everything always takes forever. Thought I'd give this place a second chance but was disappointed twice. New management for this place is a must. My server was new and didn't know anything. As a matter if fact the second time was by far worse than the first time I went.

Wonderful experience. The maitre des were a bit gruff but waitstaff was excellent - attentive and knowledgable and friendly. The food was great! Great portion size and outstanding taste. Will return often!

I feel 3 is my impression now and I will try again in a month when some kinks may be better sorted. We went last night knowing there would be a wait. Greeted nicely by hostess, attentive bartenders, and a beautiful space. The cocktails and liquor / wine selection need attention and a more sophisticated selection to match the ambiance trying to be achieved - none of the wine or beer appealed to me, so I went with a manhattan. He ordered a cocktail that included midori (I would write the name, but the menu is not up on their website yet). Of course he should have known better, but he thought it would be a splash of midori and did not expect a full on slime colored cocktail served in a large mason jar with a handle (I love mason jar cocktails, but it was an embarassing eyesore at a more "dressy" white linens restaurant). It tasted just awful. He switched to a manhattan after that ordering error, which were fine but not quite perfected (I'd suggest preserving their own cherries in the least). As for the food, well priced, and the queso fundido was tasty, but nothing remarkable. I also suggest they keep the lunch menu separate from the dinner, but I suppose the upstairs will be more fine dining oriented. The steak frites were nice, though the frites were a bit dry and I couldn't help but think preparing them in a truffle oil or something more flavorful would have been lovely. The service was great, waiter was attentive and well traveled with interesting stories to share. When we asked the manager to dim the jarring lights, he did apologize that the electrician would be working on the dimming system asap. TV over the bar was tacky, but luckily the majority of the main dining was not in view of it, though its distracting reflection took over the beautiful windows. The decor would have been more effective if the awesome neon Anson signage was the focal point. Overall, a well intended effort to use a historic building, just really needs a foodie's touch.

Went to check the place out for lunch - friend is wanting to host a Xmas Party there. You walk in and it's like you stepped out of west Texas into a classy mid-town restraunt in Manhattan. kind of a retro roaring 20's vibe. Service was excellent. However...had to send the Frito Pie back for another one....and the "drowned short rib sandwich" was cold (as was the fries) and the bread soaked through the bottom, which made it extremely messy - like falling apart need another napkin messy vice finger lickin' good kind of messy. And, instead of comping my friend the Frito Pie (which first round was disaster) and providing a complimentary coffee (the best part of my meal by the way), we were charged for both - any other top shelf restaurant would have probably comped the meal and made a reservation for your next visit. Maybe we came at a bad time...maybe it was an off day...but I wasn't impressed with the food, and for the price I would expect better. Second chance....will see.

Finally got to visit for post meal outing. Ambience was definitely upscale yet hip, we liked the cloud-y light fixture, mirror wall, and half way curtains. All these really came together and made a quite impressive interior design statement. Tried their fried oyster and chocolate cake. Fried oysters: delicately fried oysters on what tasted like fancy warm egg salad. I liked it. It was a great appetizer piece, good portion and interesting mix of flavors. Definitely made me want to come again for main courses. Chocolate cake. Oh. Yea. The waitress told me its baked to order and will take awhile but that it will be worth it. Boy, was she right. And I dont even like chocolate cake. The cake was high class molten lava cake. The cake was not too sweet, kept the bitter sweetness of true cocoa but the "lava" part had warmth and gooeyness that hugged your tongue. I mixed the ice cream and the crunchy stuff and lava in one spoon... All these textures, temperature, and taste mixing in my mouth! What a great dessert! Its like a science experiment. One room for improvement: ice cream to cake ratio was low. I would serve more ice cream or smaller cake (but dont do that please)... Bc yea that cake is good but with ice cream... THATs where the money was. It would be nice to finish both evenly together. Also the price wasnt too shabby for the ambience and the quality of culinary artistry ($10 for oyster and $8 for cake). Will be back to try more!
(4)Amanda D.
The pre-dinner oil & bread were fantastic and the molten chocolate cake was scrumptious, but the rest of dinner left room to be desired. My husband and I ordered the linguine and clams, and the gnocchi. Both were average; however, and not poor, and the prices were well within reason (which is why Anson 11 is getting four stars and not three). Overall, I think I will go back once more and test other menu selections. The service was great, everyone there is very polite and friendly, but it was also pretty slow and towards the end I got pretty antsy to get the check.
(4)Phil G.
Such a disappointment. Service was the worst imaginable. Were there to celebrate a birthday. The place was probably only a third full. Lots of staff, but nobody helping. Took almost thirty minutes to get our first drink order. My brother ordered a beer. Took another twenty minutes for the waiter to report that they were out of it. If we asked another staff person for something, bread, butter, more water, whatever, instead of getting it, they would go convey the request to our waiter. We asked for bread probably three times, our waiter told us he had to go upstairs to get it. No coordination! Appetizers were terrific and we really enjoyed them. However, the main course took much too long and by the time it was served several items were cold. Linguini was cold, chicken was cold, and my wife's pizza was cold. The waiter said "the kitchen had to wait on an item"! Again, no coordination. We finished our main course, and sat for probably fifteen minutes without seeing our waiter. We asked for dessert menus of other staff persons but it still took ten minutes or so to get them. After sitting another ten to fifteen minutes with no dessert order, we demanded our bill of the manager and paid. The manager asked about the experience and we told him. We also told him he was not on top of it, just 4 or 5 tables occupied in the place and they couldn't get it right. His only comment was to ask us back promising to do better next time. Doubtful! My money better spent elsewhere.

With downtown El Paso experiencing a much-needed reinvigoration with recent openings of craft bars, trendy restaurants, boutiques and not to mention a massive, newly constructed AAA baseball stadium, Anson 11 represents the type of fine dining establishment setting the tone for the "new downtown." After hearing several rave reviews from friends, I was very anxious to see for myself what the swanky new spot downtown was all about. Aptly named for the celebrated El Paso figure Anson Mills and located on the ground floor of the - you guessed it - Anson Mills Building, the restaurant will surely be an anchor for development in the San Jacinto Plaza area of downtown. From the sleek logos on the large glass windows to the interior design, they really nailed the posh bistro feel inspired Anson Mills himself. The impressively inviting, sophisticated atmosphere made it that much more disappointing when the cocktails and food failed to match expectations. Enjoying a classic cocktail seemed like a must once seated in the retro, high ceilinged bistro, but both the Manhattan and Cosmopolitan proved syrupy and face puckeringly sweet. The menu, which I had anticipated for weeks, proved incredibly predictable with a unimpressible selection of tired bistro dishes: Corn Soup, Mussels and Frites, Steak Frites and Creme Brûlée... ZzzzzZzzzzz. We ordered a sampling of dishes which proved as lackluster as the menu's variety. The Corn Soup was bland, the Fried Oysters easily forgettable, the Mussels so shriveled and tiny I am still not convinced there actually were any real mussels in there, the Flatbread unpleasantly tasteless, the Gnocchi prepared so incorrectly my Italian ancestors are rolling in their graves, and the Flat Iron steak so over-the-top leathery we thought it may be a sick joke. I can only hope that because our visit was shortly after opening that someone has since taken control of the kitchen and made some serious changes. If the menu and kitchen output (not to mention the cocktails) can join the ranks of the restaurant's swanky interior and vivacious atmosphere, Anson 11 may just become a downtown El Paso mainstay. If not, Mr. Anson Mills may just be shaking his head in disappointment. For full review with photos, visit my blog article at goodbaduglyeats.com/anso… - Caroline Good/Bad/Ugly Eats

I will preface this review that I went with a group once before and had FANTASTIC service. The waiter was attentive and the food was amazing. The second time I visited we met up with another couple already seated. They were busy but the waitress never once came by in the first 15 minutes, and when she did and I informed her my husband went to the bar to get us drinks, I was met with a snarky look and no words. She continued to provide little to no comments, rude looks, and extra slow service. She even came by once and asked one person at our table if he wanted a drink and ignored the rest of our orders. Needless to say, you might be busy but a smile goes a long way. You go to a restaurant like this because you expect amazing hospitality. The food and drinks were still great but the service didn't reflect that. I would still go again and hope that this woman changed up her attitude or we got another waiter/waitress.

This past Saturday, we hosted a graduation luncheon for my niece. I have to say that being from Dallas, the expectations were high, but they showed me the definition of excellent service. The wait staff were dignified, highly skilled, discreet, and superbly trained. In addition to all of that, they were highly likable and good looking--dressed to perfection and very attentive. There was not one disgruntled person. The prices were definitely Dallas prices, but the service was as good as the Four Seasons, Joule, or Pyles. The food was devoured by the guests and the wine choices were simply excellent for a luncheon. The coordinator warmed up to us after a while and took care of our needs and special requests. The fine dining area was beautifully furnished and the disposition of all the employees was joyful yet restrained. They let the guests enjoy the other guests. In other words, they did not join the party, they wanted us to have the best time possible. I cannot thank the staff enough. If you ever want to have an event there, please consider it. I've hosted events at other places in El Paso and Dallas and this was, without a doubt, at the top of the list! Thank you is not enough.

Ate here with a couple of co-workers. Nice atmosphere and very friendly service. Reasonably priced. We started with the tuna fin lettuce wraps which were awesome. I started with the French onion soup. I really like that it's not the old bowl smothered with cheese. Here they put a little cheese on a couple of crostini and it really makes the soup stand out. It was also really good. I had the rib eye with coffee and chili rub. The rub does not overwhelm the meat. It really added a nice flavor. Not spicy. Delicious! My colleagues both got the lamb shank and both said it was tender and delicious. We got the Mac and cheese as a side. I have to say that it's a must have. We did not have room for dessert. Maybe on the next visit! Overall my party agreed it was a great find and will return on our next trip to the area.

A little disappointing... First time I went had the salmon, it was alright.. and their presentation was a little messy. Second time had the chicken sandwich, pretty good And third time had the drowned short rib sandwich.. and it was terrible. Lacked flavor, asked for spicy tomato au jus and got this bland sauce. The service could definitely be improved. And adding variety to the sides would definitely be a good start... why is everything with potatoes? Update 8/29/14: decided to give Anson 11 another chance and went yesterday, ordered their lunch special of the day, and it was incredible. Wish they had this on the menu, I would order it all the time!

Oh Em Gee! This place is phenomenal. I really love the atmosphere with its old decor with a modern twist. The attitude of the employees was top notch. I had their Chicken California sandwich....(drooling as I write this), and what an amazing party my tastebuds threw when they met the taste of the sandwich and fries. After I ate, the staff gave me a tour of their 2nd floor and wow, very high class, upscale and beautiful room. I recommend this place, highly recommend it. I might just go for lunch again!

Almost a 4... Service excellent. Everything didn't come out perfect and they made sure it was... without having to make a fuss about it

This is a review for the fine dining restaurant upstairs. This was our 4th visit since they opened. Each time previously had been problematic, with the major issue being service. I never felt safe doing a business dinner here. This time they hit on all cylinders. Service was professional and attentive, but not pretentious. Cocktails were excellent. The mushroom cream appetizer was woodsy and rich. Abalone and scallop was one of the nicest and most intriguing presentations I've seen in awhile for seafood. New york Strip was beautiful with delicious char. The only miss was the brussels sprouts salad...not well drained after frying. Anson's is back on the list. Well done. Wish they had valet parking, but there is a garage next door that you don't have to go outside to get to the restaurant.

Holy shit, I freaking love this place. The interior decor looks like a scene straight from a movie, which is awesome. I've always wanted to be in a movie.. I just pretended to be that background person eating like a pig while someone was filming a scene. I told my super nice server that I needed a drink (sometimes, I can't control my alcoholic-ness), and she gave me a big book of alcohol. Plus a special drink list. I fell in love. Since it was kind of 'sort of' brunch, I ordered a Bloody Mary (I'm fancy). YUM, spicy, delicious, and not-so-easy on the Vodka. I was a little drunk, not gonna lie. And it comes in this super cool mason jar! So the super nice server (I'm going to keep referring her as the super nice server, because she was REALLY nice, attentive and cool) served us the complementary bread with the olive oil/vinegar special sauce. The bread was so soft and the sauce was really yummy. I almost wanted to ask for another loaf of bread because I'm a fat ass, but I resisted. Remember, we're filming a movie, I need to keep my class. I ordered the Pork Belly Tacos. When the plate arrived, it looked really small- just three small tacos with perfectly cooked pork bellies and garnishes. But whoa, I actually got full after just two tacos! It was probably because these pork bellies are big as fu*. So yay! Man, it was freaking delicious! The meat was juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. It was topped with variety of veggies, fresh avocado and delectable sauce. I'm literally drooling as I'm typing this. Let's move on--- The super nice server convinced us to order this chocolate cake for dessert. We were on the fence anyway, and she said she will pay for our dessert if we hated it. How can you say no to that?! We ordered it. We KILLED it. OMG, this chocolate cake is a little piece of heaven next to an angelic sweet vanilla ice cream. Definitely recommend saving room for dessert. Apparently, they bake their own dessert from scratch, so it takes awhile, but totally worth it. Yeah, we paid for the dessert. This is where I'm supposed to write a conclusion, wrapping everything together, but after writing a few reviews, I've realized I really suck at conclusions. So I'm just gonna leave it at that. I love this place, you bet I will be back here SOON.

I finally got to eat here, and I left in love with the pork belly tacos! HOLY %HIT! We had that entree as an appetizer! It was great! The kimchi (sp) and avocado which goes with the tacos was delicious! Somethjng about those cucumbers! Didn't try any signature drinks, just stuck with my favorite jack and coke. They were a bit stingy with the jack Daniels! Lol shame on you! The bread with olive oil was pretty good- Nothing special, Did I mention the pork belly tacos?!!! For my main dish I had the salmon on top of some delicious mash potatoes. The wine sauce lacked flavor. But the salmon was cooked perfectly! This place is a must! Go try if you haven't!!

Had to walk 5-6 blocks to get here and the downtown was blocked off for the Neon Desert a Festival! So glad we found it... The food was amazing! I had the lamb which was cooked to perfection. The choc molten cake was worth the 15 min wait! Would highly recommend this place!

Had 5 course dinner for Valentines. Food was excellent, service was great! Finally we have fine dinning in El Paso!
(5)Jazmanie G.
Went there on a first date and everything was amazing. The food, the service, and the ambiance. I have definitely recommended it to friends
(5)Johnny B.
Very very good restaurant in downtown El Paso. We loved it so much, we dined here 3 times during our 4 day trip. The service was so nice and friendly, and every meal was delicious. The salads and portions are enormous for such a fancy restaurant and we definitely left satisfied and full. Cocktails are great too. Highly recommended.

Anson 11 far exceeded my expectations! I honestly can't find a single thing I didn't like about it! It's still in its soft opening stage (but my waiter told me the upstairs dining room will be opening in about two weeks), but I'm thoroughly impressed by this upscale restaurant in the newly renovated Mills Plaza. Upon entering through the ceiling high glass doors, we were greeted by two smartly dressed and polite young ladies. I only point this out because there's either a review or tip on Yelp stating the matrie des were less than friendly (since only one persons said such, I'm assuming that was a fluke). We did call in a reservation beforehand and I would advise anyone who plans to eat here for dinner to do so. There is a decent amount of seating, but tables here go pretty quick (unless you have no problem with being seated at the bar). Continuing on...our waiter was fantastic. He had a pretty wide knowledge of the menu and specialty drinks. He did admit he hadn't tried every single thing on the menu, but that's excusable since they did just open (if I go in a month and this happens, different story). He was very prompt, cordial and polite. Although A11 was packed, he never forgot about our table. Before I get to my phenomenal experience with the food, let me just describe to you the decor and ambiance. Classy and upscale and beautifully designed. A11 was long overdue in El Paso. The glass doors and huge windows open up the space. I'm telling you now if you walk past A11 you'll be completely mesmerized by the food, drinks, the people, the smiles and laughs. You may even feel like little orphan Annie looking in on the family she wishes she had, you'll be compelled to walk in even if only for a drink and an appetizer. There's something about A11 that leaves you with a very intimate feeling, even though the space is so...open, even transparent. And even though there's a hum from the numerous conversations being had, it adds to the ambiance (remember downstairs is the bar with TVs and all the hustle and bustle). Even with the buzz, I could carry a conversation without having to yell. Anywhere and everywhere I eat I make it a point to try their signature cocktails (permitted they serve alcohol). Typically I find a restaurants bartender's skills are a replica of their chef's (think about it). So before ordering anything else I asked to see their signature drink menu. I think it had about 10 different cocktails and although they all sounded quite delicious, I landed on the Anson's Appletini. What do you usually find in an Appletini? Typically Green Apple Schnapps and some Vodka right? The Anson's Appletini was just as unique as the food I was served. It was like an Appletini with a Lemon Drop! I loved it! The apple and lemon worked in perfect harmony to create a balance of sweet and sour. Oh and it was garnished with an apple slice. I didn't eat it, but I deeply considered it. A11 has unique appetizers, why not try something you've never had before (Queso Fundido seems to be the go to)? On our trip we ended up getting the Chicken Fried Oysters. They're to die for! Hands down the best thing I've ever eaten (even if you don't like oysters, you should give them a try...they're that good). They're breaded and fried, then put on a bed of creamy corn and bacon - you can never go wrong with bacon. It had a bit of a Southern Comfort Food taste to it, which somehow I didn't find out of place for A11. Even if the rest of the food had been horrendous, I would go back just for the oysters. A11 also serves fresh bread along with your meal on a cutting board. Ours was served with olive oil and balsamic, but if you read the reviews they apparently also serve it with parmesan and olive oil. I'm not sure if that changes daily or if they're just trying out different things, but either way the bread is delicious. It's served warm, soft on the inside, crisp on the outside. And the olive oil is great quality (I appreciate that they didn't skimp out on the easy things). I will say, if you're not confident in your oil mixing skills ask your server to pour the balsamic vinaigrette for you. The balsamic is light yet flavorful, no sour overpowering taste, so again great quality. So for my entree I ordered the Leg of Lamb. I wasn't expecting it thinly sliced, however I was not disappointed by it either. A11 serves the Leg of Lamb on a bed of Ratatouille topped with chives. Heaven in my mouth! It was seasoned impeccably and the ratio of Lamb to vegetables was perfect. The Ratatouille was really divine though, the broth was fantastic and all the ingredients were diced (as opposed to sliced) into bite sized pieces that allows you to focus on the dish as a whole. And the flavors in the Ratatouille really made the lamb shine. Dessert! I don't like my dessert too sweet but I'm always drawn to Creme Brûlée. Fantastic! Evenly torched (finally!) and creamy. It was topped with strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. Delicious!

Was here for dinner on Friday. Upstairs via elevator. Impressive art pieces as part of the tasteful decor. My salmon was delicious, the Brussels Sprouts with pomegranates were very tasty. Had a taste of my husband Ribeye and it was cooked to perfection buttery tender! Yum. Mojito was exceptionally good with fresh lime and mint. A glass of Justin was the perfect wine pairing for our meal. Our company raved about their Filet Mignon and Sword Fish. I splurged with the avocado cheesecake which was refreshing and light, it was a perfect evening. Delicious food great service, live singing and wonderful company. Beautiful building .

We had a nice overall experience at Anson 11 this evening. I was blown away by the reasonable prices and the casual menu. I was expecting more of a steakhouse and maybe when they open the dining room upstairs, we will discover a more traditional steakhouse menu ala Ruth's Chris, Capital Grille, and Del Frisco's. I got a sneak peek at the upstairs dining room and it is really spectacularly nice. My comments are restricted to a dinner at the downtown bistro/ bar. I really dislike raised tables and stools unless I'm at a sports bar, but unfortunately, we were directed to just such a table. I cannot complain as we made a last minute reservation. I really enjoyed the queso fundido appetizer and the bread served with oil, vinegar, red pepper and Parmesan cheese. These were the highlights of the meal. I ordered the French Dip which was quite good, but overly salted. The chicken and trout dishes were great, as we're the two desserts the four of us shared, molten chocolate cake and peach cobbler. I thought the bar was very inviting and the casual bistro atmosphere was great. By far the most disappointing part of the meal was the crummy wine list. The by-the-glass options were particularly disturbing, something more befitting Applebee's than a steakhouse. Maybe we will find something better when we get upstairs. The only other complaint is the lack of valet parking and lack of street parking. Anson 11 should validate parking tickets for their patrons who park in the parking garage next door. To his credit, the manager did indeed validate my ticket after I asked, but validating is not the norm and was not offered by the waiter. I think if restaurants want people to come downtown to dine, they have to do whatever is necessary to make it as convenient as possible. I'm surprised they made no parking arrangements for their guests. Finally, not to nit pick, but the restaurant should have a fully functioning website. the website should let people know that it's still a soft opening, the dining room is not open, there is street construction out front, and parking information. I am eager to try the dining room upstairs and see if the menu is different and if the wine list is expanded.

We held our wedding reception for 30 people in Anson 11's upstairs dining area. Ileana was wonderful at helping us organize the event, and she, Oscar and Mikey are extremely professional and great to work with. The food was fabulous as well. I highly suggest trying the Black Cod.
(5)Ty R.
I've been here twice on my El Paso visits, and I left very happy both times. The food was original and well-cooked, and I especially liked the queso fundido and cocktails. The drinks are inventive and balanced, and the waiters are knowledgeable about them as well. I've seen some complaints about slow service, but it just reminds me of how service is traditionally on europe... where eating is an experience rather than a harried task. I love that the staff let us relax and enjoy our meals, instead of rushing us off. Jaime, our waiter, was especially wonderful and nice. He offered us complimentary French-pressed coffee at the end of our meal, which was a nice gesture.

Finally came to the Bistro section on the first floor. Great service and a tastefully but yet up to date decor. Much history in this building. We had the house salad which was amazing as well as the asparagus with Hollandaise sauce. Also, the meatloaf was excellent with a great sauce on top and cheese underneath. Because of a misunderstanding, they couldn't validate my parking but the manager gave us a free dessert which was creame brulee. Wow, reminded me of eating it in Paris. Next time, I want to try their eggs benedicts which sounded great. Very friendly wait staff and manager. Wishing the best for Anson 11

Finally, a place in El Paso that does dining right! The restaurant is beautiful and the food is amazing. Great wine list. Delicious fried oysters. Really delicious. My hubby had the short ribs and they were incredibly tender and tasty. The roasted chicken brings chicken to the next level. Accompanied by brussels and the most velvety celery root puree I've ever tasted. The perfect little creme brûlée served in a cast iron dish for dessert. It was a win. Besides the food, the details make it worth visiting. Everyone looks you in the eye when they talk to you. "Excuse me", "thank you" and "my pleasure" heard on a regular basis. Our server was very polite and helpful (somewhat of a rarity in this city). She brought over a small side table so my purse wouldn't have to sit on the floor. What?! Thank you! Always very attentive; no empty glasses unfilled, no empty plates left on the table. It was so nice to not be frustrated by service during dinner. So. Nice. In short, if you're asking if you should...you should.

I feel like as often as I come, the more and more and more disappointed I am.Steak comes super salty. Had to send it back twice. Management did apologize(service is way better than the food) got it remade and came out way better the second time. The gravy layered under the chicken was super salty as well but because we already had complained about the steak, we didn't want to even bother. I've come here enough times to say I'd never consider coming here again. Sighhh... It was once my favorite restaurant...
(3)Angela B.
Carrot soup was phenomenal as was the service.... The main course wasn't great. The ambiance more than made up for it but surprisingly it was almost empty on a Friday night....
(4)Monique B.
The food was tasty, the menu was unique and I loved the artsy feel of the restaurant. It's a very cool place. I got the special, which was the squid ink pasta in a cream sauce. Everything was very fresh and made from scratch in house. I had the bread pudding for dessert, which was good too. It's a great place to go for a date or to celebrate a birthday. They have a nice bar area, too. It's located in downtown El Paso. There is street parking and a garage near by.
(5)A B.
Stopped by here for dinner while I was here on business. The queso fundido was great, as were the pork belly tacos. Good margaritas. Would recommend if you're in El Paso.
(4)Wade S.
Great little spot. Drinks are great (good bartenders), the food is good and not too expensive. Love the atmosphere, nice place to relax after work.
(4)Ashley D.
Finally! Look no further for great food in an inviting atmosphere. My husband and I found this place while staying the week in the downtown area. We sat at the bistro but there is also a beautiful upstairs fine dining room. The food was delicious and the service was knowledgable, efficient, and friendly. Nice wine selection as well. You will not be disappointed. We will definitely be making this a staple when visiting EP.
(5)Jeannie S.
1.) great atmosphere 2.) great food 3.) service sub par -- can at times be really loud and noisey Fun place to go if youre looking for a great place to grab lunch. Dinner here is only ok. The Steakhouse upstairs hasnt opened yet. Hopefully its amazing!
(4)Lori P.
Excellant wine list. The queso fundido had whole cloves of garlic in it! Great atmosphere, great service.
(5)Joe S.
I love this place. Food was absolutely delicious. I had the short rib...definitely recommended. The prices here are extremely affordable, borderline steal! I sat at the bar where I was served by Indiana who is awesome, very professional but fun. Bottom line: come here, you won't regret it!!
(5)Katherine W.
Went all the way and dined upstairs. It's a beautiful dining room with neat views of the beautiful and vacant buildings adjacent. We arrived in a glass elevator and were whisked to our table. White linens and pretty glasses adorned the big round table. I ordered a mojito and it was perfect! I had the endive salad with candied walnuts, gala apples, and blue cheese and it was outstanding. My main was the prime filet mignon. It was served with potato purée and greens. My only complaint was, why would you cover a prime filet in pepper sauce? Even though it was delicious, I think I'd order the sauce separately. Dessert was fun. I had the Nutella. Basically bread layered with Nutella topped with buttermilk ice cream. Super sweet but nicely paired with the creamy and delicious ice cream. Expresso to finish. Great service but unfortunately the plates were being cleared while some were still eating. Bummer! Lovely atmosphere and very unobtrusive service. Pricey, but worth it. You've got to see this place. It's gorgeous!
(4)Fred V.
I ordered the rainbow trout at Anson11 and it was fresh, tender and delicious. The green beans that topped the trout were cooked perfectly! My two friends visiting from San Francisco ordered pappardelle pasta and the drowned short rib sandwich. They found both dishes to be excellent! Our server was Dane. He is friendly, polite, professional and attentive. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant regularly.
(5)Andrea S.
I'm addicted to the pate....it's a problem! It's so delicious. One of the best appetizers I've ever had!
(5)Walter W.
This place is awesome. Food, drinks and service are all excellent.
(5)Brad W.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I was in town for 2 nights and went back a second time. The menu was an awesome variety. I went with several co workers who all got different plates and everyone thought it was outstanding. The bartenders are top notch. I will go back for sure if I return to town.
(5)Jeff H.
For the price point you can't beat this place. Great atmosphere, great wine list, great service. Almost anything on the menu is good. I highly recommend the shoshito peppers appetizer. Not spicy at all, but indicative of the restaurant: a great fare at a reasonable price.
(4)Noel A.
I have eaten here twice now. Once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times I had impeccable service and great food. For dinner I had the shishito peppers, and queso fundido for appetizers, both were great. For entree I had the ribeye and my friend had the roasted chicken. The steak was great but the roasted chicken was off the chart good. Then today I went for lunch and had the short rib sandwich and I was great too. I sat at the bar and he bartender Laurena was amazing and recommended it. I am a very picky person when it comes to restaurants and I can't find anything wrong with this place so far. It is a must go for lunch and dinner.
(3)Lane F.
The bread was the highlight. Meatloaf was subpar. Covered with strong sauce. Waitress stopped by to take my order and once when good arrived and then to give me a bill. Service was so so. Came here a few weeks back and got the short ribs, which was sublime. Service was amazing. Top notch. Don't touch the meatloaf. It is nasty. Go for bread and water instead. You'll leave happier.
(3)Bradley M.
One of the better places to eat in downtown El Paso. We ate in the casual bar downstairs. The meatloaf was heavenly. It was not like your typical meatloaf your mom use to make. Others in our group had spare ribs and filet mignon. Everyone said they would have it again. Another nice item was their bread which you can soak in olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette which was complimented with some pepper and grated cheese. We will definitely eat here again on our next trip to El Paso.
(5)Rock S.
great place, good food, awesome service. a nice walk from my hotel, the double tree. i went around 3pm and it wasn't packed at all (i didnt expect it to be) - but i just sat at the bar. my bartender (i apologize, i forgot your name) - maybe michelle?, was very friendly. i ordered the short rib sandwich and she said its a very popular sandwich. i also noticed on one of the chalk boards, that it was happy hr starting at 3pm! although it was bud light, it was only $2. food came a little slow for it not being busy, but the taste made up for it. i enjoyed it and since i travel to the area (utep) often, i will be sure to stop in!

Anson11 is a wonderful work in progress. We have had dinner twice, the first time in mid-May and the last time this past Saturday. I haven't had drinks or snacks in the bistro downstairs yet, although the happy hour sounds like an attractive proposition. The food is very good, creative and elegant. Some dishes fail to hit their mark. I ordered the fig and prosciutto appetizer last Saturday. It was okay, but it should have been superb. My trio of Colorado lamb was also just okay. The confit was mushy, the other two elements were good, but not great. My wife had the steak tartare appetizer. The tartare was excellent, but it was served with potato chips, instead of melba toast or some other, appropriate cracker. The potato chips seemed like they came straight out of a grocery store bag, not from the frying pan in the kitchen. She followed that dish with the Muscovy duck breast, which was also excellent. We were with the same friends on both occasions. They enjoyed the lobster raviolo appetizer, the duck breast, and the duo of pork. Again, the food is very good. On the May visit, the service was very good. Last Saturday, the service was a bizarre trip to an alternate universe. There was huge confusion as to the status of burrata in the kitchen, such that I had three conversations on the topic of whether it would accompany my fig and prosciutto appetizer or not. In the end, it proved to be the best part of my appetizer. The selection and service of our wine was the alternate universe part of our dinner. We had decided to enjoy a pinot noir with our meals, as we were all having entrees well suited to that particular varietal. Upon hearing of our intentions, our waiter enthusiastically recommended a particular wine from the Sonoma Coast, saying Anson11 is the exclusive restaurant with this particular wine. I had never heard of the wine. As the waiter was sketchy on details, I asked for a look at the bottle. There was none of the usual information on the bottle, and Vivino didn't have it in their database, when I took a picture of the label. In retrospect, the scarcity of information should have been a huge warning signal. We proceeded to order the wine, then waited while the waiter struggled mightily to remove the wax cover on the cork, and uncork the bottle. He poured me a taste, and I found it be quite good. No fireworks or anything, but tasty nonetheless. Fast forward to the point where we are down to the last quarter of the bottle, and I'm thinking I should order another bottle. I ask the waiter who's pouring into my glass at that moment, not our primary waiter but another fellow, the price of the wine. He looks at me and says, "Three seventy". My immediate reaction was to think this wine couldn't possibly cost $3.70. Surely he couldn't mean $370. So I look at him and asked, "Three seventy? Do you mean three hundred and seventy dollars?" He smiles, and nods his head. Needless to say, some intense conversations with the floor manager and the general manager ensued, and a barely affordable and acceptable resolution was reached. Fortunately, in this process of terse negotiations, I found the general manager to be Oscar, who was our favorite waiter and manager when Tabla opened a few years ago. He had disappeared for a couple of years. It's great to find him again, although the circumstances could have been much better. By now, you're probably wondering what the wine was. It was the inaugural (2012) vintage of Boars' View Pinot Noir, made by Fred and Carol Schrader of Schrader Cellars in Calistoga, CA, with grapes from their new (5 years old) vineyard on the Sonoma coast. I will post a photo of the empty bottle, which I insisted on keeping as a memento of our long, strange trip of a meal at Anson11. Will I eat there again? Of course, especially now that I have found Oscar, but I will be very, very careful with the wait staff and their limited knowledge of wine and proper wine service.

My husband and I had dinner in the Bistro after the show Wicked. Was not impressed at all. I hope to dine in the upstairs rest. next time for a better experience. Where to start! First, our drinks took forever to get to us. The bartender seemed a little overwhelmed. It seemed that if you ordered a sandwich your order came out fast. Hot meals a different story. My husband ordered the steak, but it was just ok (Stone Wood Grill has a much better steak). I ordered the trout, which was good, but the presentation was terrible. It looked like someone had just squirted some mayo on top. Our waiter was a little strange. Did not smile a whole lot and took a long time to come back and check on us. And the Crème Brule, was RUNNY and served HOT!!! Does anyone in El Paso know how to make a good Crème Brule!???? You don't serve it hot, right out of the oven, you only use a torch to brown the sugar on top!!!! It's a custard, not hot pudding. The establishment itself was a bit dirty. There was food on the floor. The floor looked like it had not been mopped in sometime. The windows were dirty and all of the mirrors where extremely dirty. If you're going to have mirrors to make the place look bigger, you need to keep them clean!!! I'd like to try the upstairs, maybe the up scale dining will be better.

This is a review of the fine dining upstairs. A true oasis in El Paso. My husband and I come here whenever we're in downtown El Paso for a show and every visit the service is good, the food is good, and the ambience is quiet and classy. We see this place as a little respite from our hectic days. I look forward to my next visit!
(5)Guillermo A.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Very posh. The food was reasonably priced but high quality.
(5)Crystal A.
Decided to stop in for drinks and appetizers as other area bars were closed for Neon Desert Music Festival. Sat at the bar and was quickly greeted and given a happy hour menu. Drinks were okay, nothing amazing. Ordered pork sliders and beer battered veggies to snack on. Sliders were average but the beer battered veggies were incredibly salty! The bartender asked how we were doing and explained the salty situation. She quickly for her manager who was extremely apologetic and asked us to choose anything off the menu and it would be on the house. We declined and he insisted. So, although the drinks and appetizers were average at best, the service was amazing!

Can you say all expectations blown away? My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner and it was fantastic. I had heard and read mixed reviews about Anson 11, so I was going in a little weary. When I made the reservation they asked if I wanted the dinning room or grill, I chose the dinning room. When we arrived we were escorted up stairs in the elevator to a second floor dinning room. It was beautiful, the menu was comparable to cafe central. As soon as I saw the foie gras and duck on the menu I was sold. My wife ordered the "princess salad", their version of a Cesar and scallops for dinner. The service was great, food fantastic and ambiance was exactly what the night called for. I will defiantly go back, now I just need to check out the grill.
(5)Linda D.
Wonderful place! Atmosphere is perfect, close walk from our hotel. The service was outstanding, food was amazing. Drinks were generous, and our wine recommendation was great. Will go there again!
